Upgrading My Skincare Routine with Beauty of Joseon

This post is sponsored by Stylekorean and features my honest review and experience. Thank you for continuing to support the content that makes Daisybutter possible.

I’ve written plenty of posts about skincare on Daisybutter. Since my early teens, I’ve practiced twice-daily skincare routines that cleanse, tone and hydrate the skin (and then some). What can I say? I’m an East Asian gal who spent summers with her Mum scouring the aisles of Sasa in Hong Kong.

While I’m no skincare expert, I’d like to think I know a thing or two when it comes to caring for my skin and for adapting and upgrading it when the environment requires it. As I step further into my thirties, I notice more and more that my skin requires less, but it does require good quality.

Enter Beauty of Joseon.

In my pursuit of changing my products to cruelty-free ones, I stepped away from all of my go-to brands. Laneige, Innisfree, Sulwhasoo, Etude House… all of my favoured Asian or K-beauty skincare brands were now a no-go. Suffice to say, it has been a journey to get my skin back to happy again.

Beauty of Joseon is a Korean brand that focuses on using modern Korean Hanbang ingredients. It’s good to note here that while the brand is cruelty-free, not all of their products are vegan. Their collections can be divided to suit your skin condition, be it acne and breakouts, wrinkles, pores and sebum, dullness and uneven tone, or dryness.

The Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water has been an essential in my routine all summer: it’s made with 80% ginseng water to nourish and hydrate skin deeply, something my skin craves now that I’m back to a 4-5x weekly gym routine. It also contains 2% niacinamide to maintain oil balance. Each morning and evening, I apply this after cleansing and exfoliating. Plus, the packaging feels assuredly luxury, looking wonderful on the bathroom shelf.

The last time I checked in with you about my skincare, I mentioned that I was having trouble finding a good evening moisturiser. Enter the Dynasty Cream, a firm and creamy moisturiser that keeps skin hydrated and balanced with ingredients like rice bran water, ginseng water and niacinamide. A little goes a long way with this, and I always wake up with a glowing, lit-from-within look to my skin.

Finally, I’ve really enjoyed adding the Revive Eye Serum: Ginseng + Retinal into my routine. It feels soft and light, and it definitely gives a visibly smoother effect around the eyes. Beauty of Joseon notes that they ‘were keen on integrating Vitamin A with ginseng, specifically its two cosmetic forms – retinol and retinal’. In this product, they incorporated 2% (active ingredient 0.02%) of liposome-stabilised retinal.
