Country walks, good (vegan) food and a comedy show.
Autumn in England is spectacular in my eyes. A real feast for the senses, there’s a crisp chill that requires very precise layering of clothes, a woodsmoke scent lacing the air, the ever-changing colours as trees retreat from gleaming green to burnt orange, the crunch of leaves underfoot, and the comforting warmth of hearty seasonal meals.
This year, I’m missing three precious weeks of the British autumn as I’m taking various trips. Excited as I may be for these long-awaited breaks, I’m really quite sad not to get the most of a milder season. So, at the weekend, my boyfriend and I took it upon ourselves to wrap up tightly and enjoy a cosy country weekend.

After our usual Saturday morning gym session, we got ready and into hiking boots and coats, and headed off to one of the most beautiful scenic country walks local to us. The last time we did this walk, it was post-brunch and I was dressed completely not for a walk and entirely for a meal, so I was very glad for my new, beloved adidas by Stella McCartney × TERREX hiking boots.

Once we’d made our way down and back to my car, we headed off for some food. Our favourite thing to do in the chillier months is warm up with some pub grub – we even have a checklist on my phone of ‘places to try’, as well as of our favourites! This time, we headed to The Bull in Watton-at-Stone. I think their vegan burger is my favourite one I’ve ever tried. Even better than Patty & Bun in London!

This pub is super cute inside, as well as out. The beer garden has a few cowsheds that offer cosy, much more private dining.

Later in the evening, following afternoon naps and reading sessions and a homemade lemon parsley pasta dinner, we got ready (again) and popped out to see Jimmy Carr at the theatre. It’s special to see any comedy show not in London and even more so it being a bigger name. Typically Jimmy Carr’s style is a bit dark for me, but I think he’s reined it in slightly these days without losing that Carr essence.
All in all, an autumnal Saturday very well spent in our leafy part of the country.
