Sundaze 291: Girls’ supper club, library updates and a day in London

Happy Sundaze, my loves!

It’s been another packed week here, and I’ve been so excited to cosy up in my new library room to pen a new Sundaze post. Honestly, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have this space – my boyfriend is seriously the best human ever. Seven weeks after moving, it’s really lovely to have a room to work from again and store all of my beloved books. Who would’ve known? It’s wildly disruptive to have your things scattered across rooms and houses. I missed last weekend’s post, too, because I was busy building a wardrobe (at last)! So, the house is really coming together now!

Outside of ‘house stuff’, I’ve been enjoying ploughing through my current reads – The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez and The Antidote by Karen Russell – and soaking up my Disney+ subscription. Especially now that Grey’s Anatomy is back and I’ve discovered High Potential. I completely loved High Potential and totally recommend it! Then, I watched Adolescence on Netflix this weekend. I’d heard so much hype about it, and it’s well worth it. A really moving social commentary on the rise of incel culture and the epidemic we may have on our hands in England.

Girls’ supper club

On Wednesday, my work girls and I popped to Megan’s for our monthly supper club night. This has fast become one of my favourite dates in the diary, not least because it feels like three 8-hour days in the office together sometimes doesn’t feel like enough! Over delicious food – oyster mushroom kebab skewers and sweet potato fries for me – we surmised everything from weddings to partners, books to work chat. I always leave feeling heart-warmed and soul-full.

Some library updates

Since my last update, my library room has come on leaps and bounds! This is going to be where I work from home, as well as carry on with my cosy hobbies. The walls, radiator, doors and shelves are now painted, our new carpet has been fitted, and I built three big ol’ bookcases to house my personal library.

And, on Monday, my standing desk arrived, so now I just need to tinker with my setup! Cable management tips, anybody?! I think I’ll be putting together a separate post with all the details about this room soon, so if you have any Q’s, ask away in the comments!

A day in London with Sophia

Yesterday, I popped to London for the first time in weeks to spend the day with my friend Sophia. I hadn’t seen her since September, so it was very wholesome indeed to visit the Saatchi Gallery for the FLOWERS – FLORA IN CONTEMPORARY ART & CULTURE exhibition, and then pop for lunch at Phat Phuc in Chelsea afterwards. We used to spend many or most of our weekends together when we both lived in Hong Kong, and Saturday felt like the perfect throwback to those carefree mid-twenties days.
