Sundaze 302: First snow, sick days and Christmas decorating

Happy Sundaze, my loves!
I just knew that I’d get sick the second I put my ‘Out of Office’ on. That’s precisely what happened at around 4.45pm last Friday, about 12 hours before we were due to fly to Italy for our early anniversary celebrations. While it dampened our trip only a little, it has totally dampened my spirit this week and I’ve spent the entire week indoors, recovering and trying not to spread the lurgy anyway! Like we all discovered in lockdown, this homebody does, apparently, like to go one or two places. Cabin fever, hello again.
That being said, it’s given me a lot more time to write and I’m so buoyed to see several scheduled posts in my WordPress dashboard! For a moment there I thought that my blogging bug had completely left me forever. Perhaps it’s just that this season of life has required a little more from me, and I’m still working out what I do and don’t want to share online. (After all, it seems I’ve closed one influencer chapter and opened another!)
First snow!
We had our first snow in England this week! Bundled up in my pyjamas, blanket and dressing gown, I practically flew down the stairs to watch the huge snow flurries disco-dance their way to the ground while dancing our way round the kitchen with Eddie. It was definitely a shock after a wildly mild week last week and a pretty mild-but-rainy weekend in Italy… Climate change ain’t playing, people! Plus, it was great to enjoy the snow ensconced in my cosy cocoon while working from home, instead of having to battle the elements for a dreary commute to the office.
Decorating our home for Christmas
Yesterday, Eddie and I decorated the house for Christmas! We of course started the day with our usual tradition: visiting a local farm shop to choose our annual ‘special’ tree baubles. I’ve been excited for Christmas practically since we moved in together.

Since I’ve lived mostly at our family home in the past few years, I’m starting from scratch with non-tree decorations. Some of my favourite additions are our Christmas village houses from Sostrene Grene, these LED paper stars, and this adorable velvet bow bouclé bolster cushion! Now it feels even more cosy and comfy in our little sanctuary.
Good books
I feel like I’ve been blessed with a really great run of books recently. From finishing Holy Boy on our flight to Verona, to reading Wild Dark Shore on our way back, and then finally starting The Left Hand of Darkness, I am deep in my book mode right now. I’ve read quite a few Ursula K. Le Guin books now, yet this one is already hitting deep. What. A. Writer. Have you read any good books lately?
