Petite joys
Things have been a little different at Chez Daisybutter this fortnight, as I’m currently in London house- and cat-sitting for my friend Ghenet. Ghenet’s currently back in New York visiting her family, and I was more than happy to oblige when she asked me to look after her one-eyed kitty, Rex. As such, I’ve been a bit out of sorts juggling client work from her pad and attempting to keep things ticking over. It’s been a delight to be a faux Londoner again though. Harvey and I haven’t lived in London for more than two years now!
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Our delicious vegan roast at not-for-profit Café Van Gogh at the weekend. It was our first non-homemade roast and it was truly something else. If you’re ever in Brixton, you should definitely go.
二. Working from home for the past fortnight. My creative juices have never run so freely! (Sorry for the slightly gross phrase.) I’m on top of editorial content for my clients, and I have a huge list of blog post ideas to sink my teeth into when I find the time.
三. These & Other Stories jumpers – roll on roll neck (and beyond) season.
四. Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince on repeat. Easily my new favourite song on ‘Lover’!
五. Glowy morning light flooding through the windows, accompanied by the unmistakable brisk September chill.
六. Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams. I read this much-anticipated novel in under 24 hours and it is one of my new all-time favourites. The entire book sung with personality, heartbreak and a sense of rooting-for-you-girl and I genuinely couldn’t recommend it more.
七. My beautiful new Daisy Jewellery necklaces. I’m currently layering the Estée Lalonde Sunburst Shield Necklace and the Isla Coral Necklace and loving them together.
八. The Green Roasting Tin’s All-in-One Sticky Rice dish. I think it’s now my signature dish and is even more delicious every time. We added red onions to our this week; a game-changer.
九. Seeing all of my hard work go live! I produced all of the digital copy and editorial content for Molton Brown’s latest Eaux de Parfum campaign launch. I’m so proud of it and it feels like a real monumental moment, after almost eight months of hard work.
十. Your feedback on this post. Thank you!
What’re some of your petite joys, lately?
