Open-hearted joys 開開心心 05
With England ‘unlocking’ another step this week, it certainly feels as though we’re surrounded by just a little more light and positivity. No matter how you personally feel about it – personally for me, nothing will be changing from my day-to-day routine! – it feels hopeful at the moment. In many ways, I feel like I’m trying to keep up with myself. The weeks are rushing by and I can hardly remember what I did day to day, so I’m making a conscious effort to slow things back down a fraction and take things as and when I’m ready to.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite, open-hearted joys the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Remembering to tuck a hot water bottle beneath the sheets, and getting a warm surprise when you hop in.
二. A fun, all-family walk ‘round the lake after our Qingming rituals.
三. Vegan Chinese takeaway night. If you’re also in Hertfordshire, you need to follow @tarasvegantreats and pop notifications on because she’s a genius.
四. Seeing Sian from the doorstep! It really feels like we’re making small, cautious steps towards normality again, and I’m enjoying seeing a friend or two, here and there.
五. The Daisybutter & Chai collection launch! I am truly blown away by the support – the edit is selling super fast, so if you’re considering picking a little something up, then do so soon. I think you’d adore the Sundaze Soy Candle and Petite Joys A4 Print. I’ve really, really enjoyed creating and making these products. AND! We were featured in Stylist magazine this week!!
Did you know? You can now purchase your very own ‘Petite Joys’ print to hang in your home, over on & Chai!
六. Making Dad jokes with Dad. He’s currently on leave from work and it’s great having him around.
七. A restorative, restful Sunday in bed, reading, playing Cozy Grove and drinking tea on loop. I definitely feel like adding one extra social plan in per week (even if it was one more walk!) was already too much for this tired girl! Time to add in more rest.
八. Surprise chocolates and my (new) favourite drink.
九. Fearless (Taylor’s Version); this album meant the world to me in 2008 and, in an odd, circular way, it means the world to me now too. In fact, it’s really made this past fortnight feel extra sparkly.
十. Glinting gold sunset light, flooding through voile curtains on a Sunday afternoon. Bliss.
What’re some of the little, open-hearted joys in your life lately?
