Dreaming Up A Dream Sleep Cycle
This post is produced in paid partnership with TEMPUR®. Thank you for continuing to support the content that makes Daisybutter possible.
There’s no skirting around the fact that I’m a big fan of slow morning starts, snoozy evenings and getting that work, rest and play balance just right. The Sundaze mood – glowing sunlight through voile curtains, coffee sipped as I pace through a book… – lasts all the way through my weeks. Despite my very best efforts, I simply haven’t evolved into becoming a morning person and I still very much prefer staying up until the stars glimmer above my head, just outside of the window. Instead, I’m finding it a real comfort to lean into my own sleep cycle, one that allows me to balance sleep, exercise, rest time and work.
This summer, have partnered with women’s road cycling team DROPS Le Col, demonstrating its commitment to supporting athletes with their exercise and training schedules. Crafted from TEMPUR® mattress material, its mattress and pillow collection evenly distributes weight and pressure to help ensure a comfortable sleep. In short, my new TEMPUR® pillow has an integrated pressure relief for total comfort and support – no more of the pillow flippin’ action throughout the night here my loves. And while it hasn’t completely transformed me into a morning person, it has changed how rested I feel when I do manage to get up.
Mornings feel easier
When you’re well rested, mornings do feel much easier. I get about 6-7 hours sleep in the night, topped up with a lunchtime nap and an after-work one too. The 8-hour sleep myth has always stuck with me and, since starting to work from home, I’ve found that short 20-minute naps really boost my focus and productivity. No more 3pm headaches here! The past month or so has even seen my sister and I head out for pre-work runs.
In return, sleep feels nicer
After a 45-minute or so run and plenty of ‘usual summer activity’ (i.e. dipping in and out of the sun in the garden on rotation!), I’ve also noticed that I slip into a deep slumber easier too. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that it’s often felt incredibly difficult to drift off throughout this pandemic. Managing to get some exercise in has done the world of good in looking after my mental health as well as my physical health, which I’m so grateful for.
