This fortnight has felt joyfully busy yet also fraught with worry. For every good thing that I notice, I’m also struck by how sad it is to experience big life things without my best friend by my side. Months and months later, and it’s still the most difficult and lonely experience to go through. That aside, I’ve been incredibly lucky to begin my dream job this fortnight and life continues to life.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite, open-hearted joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Starting my new job! I feel beyond lucky and grateful. And I’m even enjoying my new pre-work morning routine of the gym, a little ‘hot girl walk’, a shower and breakfast all before 9am.
二. Completely being sucked into a book, so much so that you read all of it – Colleen Hoover’s ‘It Ends with Us’ – in less than two days.
三. Rifling through my still-hefty to-be-read shelf for my next read.
四. The scent of my & Chai Soy Candle as I plough through a Wednesday morning of work.
五. Spotting my beautiful citrine crystal on my desk.
六. Date night at our favourite Turkish restaurant, before an evening of very competitive family bingo.
七. A stroll back to the Tube in West London, admiring the 8.30pm sunset.
八. The goslings and ducklings down at the lake.
九. A solo coffee and book date on Saturday morning.
十. Cosy spring evenings playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons and watching my favourite streamers.
What’re some of your petite joys, lately?
