When September rears its head, I’m instantly refreshed. From my annual goals to wardrobe choices, general outlook to productivity levels, the September start is absolutely everything for me. Especially after a long summer… And what a great, long summer we had! I took a few minutes to put together an August Reel (I had to), and it was such a lovely reminder of all the best moments from an incredible month.

But now I’m looking forward to this delicious late summer season, winding down before a few months of cosy activities and inevitably complaining about the cold. Work feels good – fun and exciting – and I’m loving feeling on-track enough in life to do things again. This weekend, we had a relaxed reset sort of pair of days: a country walk, a cosy pub lunch, homemade dinner and films in bed, before celebrating it being a full year since our first date.

Capitalising on the September start

The theme of my week has certainly been the September start. (As such, it’s the theme of my blog content next week!) On Tuesday, our office reopened after being closed for the summer and it’s felt surprisingly good going back into the office occasionally. We embrace a hybrid schedule, meaning I’m in London for office days twice a week and that’s balanced with three WFH days. It works perfectly for this introverted homebody.

Returning to the office this week, of all weeks, has meant I really feel the new-school-term mood. Fresh notebook, new pen, my new company laptop… And, coupled with transitional season outfits, I feel like I’m returning to myself: a full September start reset.

I even managed to get the seasonal wardrobe purge checked off my list, along with a bedroom declutter and the Big Fridge Clean™!

A sister date

We had a Bank Holiday here in England, on Monday, and my sister and I took it as an opportunity to take ourselves for a well-earned sister date. After spending our morning packing up & Chai orders from the weekend, we drove to a nearby town for coffee, pizza and a little bookshop peruse – perfect. So often we’re made to think that every waking moment must be grand and ‘Instagrammable’ and share-worthy, but small everyday dates are worthy too.

Back to London

Back to London and back to early morning and late evening commutes. Which means I’m back to packing healthy homemade bento boxes, reading – at the moment, it’s The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani – and soaking up inspiration from being outdoors. Post-pandemic, it feels good to have steadily found a good balance. And that’s really been the word of the moment for me throughout 2022.

Links I’ve Loved

  1. I wore this blazer to work on Tuesday and absolutely loved it. Take your usual size; it has a slightly relaxed straight fit with a full lining, single back vent and jetted pockets at the front.
  2. As always, I’ve downloaded my monthly wallpaper from The Everygirl.
  3. This week, our Bamboo Mylk Soy Candle has scented my work-from-home space.
