Sundaze 294: Perspective, positivity and prepping for our trip

Happy Sundaze, my loves!

It’s Saturday morning as I write this weekend’s post. Milo and I are lounging on the sofa after a bumper walkies, Eddie is snoozing upstairs after working an extra shift, and there’s lot of packing on my agenda. It could only be the weekend before our big trip! And, boy, do I need a break. Between work and adulting and everything else I often try to juggle, it’s no surprise that I’m starting to feel a bit messy and discombobulated all ‘round.

A little perspective

You all know by now that I’m a pretty happy-go-lucky, magic-making, joy-seeking sort of person. So it was surprising to me when I cosied up for a Wednesday evening writing session and noticed that everything leaving my fingertips was seared with rage, anger and general negativity. Is the saying ‘the body keeps the score’? Well, for writers, so do the words. I wrote paragraphs and paragraphs, read them back, and deleted them all. It felt like breathing clean air. For many reasons, real life has been tricky and traumatic recently, leaving me feeling a little rudderless, especially on this blog. Yet writing down my emotions – as always – hugely helped. And so did after-work drinks with my work wife.

Positivity

On that note, I’m hereby resolving to put positivity first! I’m a really big believer in receiving what you put out in the world, and so I already know I need to remove the negativity from my everyday thoughts and replace it with some magnetic energy and optimism. From my gratitude lists to just getting some outdoors time in (and screen time out), that’s my MO this week. I’ve got a coffee (rare, I know!), Gossip Girl and Milo cuddles in this morning’s toolkit.

Prepping for South Korea and Japan

We go away next month, and I couldn’t be more excited. There’s still a few more things to sort – and our suitcases to pack – but I’m already leaning into relaxation mode after some busy work weeks and endlessly busy weekday evenings as well. Last night, we booked my vegan meals for our flights and I was gobsmacked that it was a £7.99 charge. But, at least I’ll be fed on our 16-hour trip, eh? And, right now, I’m researching ideas for 24 hours in Busan! Talk about leaving it all quite late.
