This week was the last week of ‘being 28’, because it’s my birthday tomorrow!! This Pisces gal is catapulting straight into 29 in the morning and she’s pretty excited about it. I used to put a lot of pressure on myself to plan celebrations that’d make me seem fun and interesting, but all I truly want these days is a bangin’ coffee, puppy cuddles, a nice brunch and maybe some books and candles. (She wild.) It also extended into the Birthday Week and Birthday Month phenomenon, which I’ve always felt is so indulgent! Instead, I’ve spent my week journalling, reading, commuting more than anyone wants to (yawn), and getting my new bedroom ready. I’ve a few plans with some friends next week (including an Oxford day trip, so send me your recommendations!), and that suits me just fine.
A snow day!
We had a snow day in Hertfordshire on Thursday!! I was so excited to wake up to snow flurries drifting down from the sky, and revelled in enjoying my morning coffee by the window. Snow is possibly my favourite weather ever. I’m not sure what it is about snow that makes the world feel slower; quieter; cocooned… but I love it. It proved the perfect weather for a writing sprint and I’m always thankful for that.
Room progress
In prepping my new bedroom, I’ve realised how ready I am to have my own proper space. I’m finding such joy, don’t get me wrong, in planning my new wardrobe — so spacious! — and choosing paint colours, but there’s been a palpable shift. First on the list is another meeting with some advisors at my bank, and then comes the stream of anxiety and No Money as this girl buys her first house.
Back to my current room though… I’m going to be here for a few months. Of that I’m sure. I’ve opted for warm neutral hues this time, and I’m heading to IKEA as we speak to pick up some furniture and storage. The current plan is a bookish, cosy corner of a room that is functional for now, and also as my parents’ future guest room. I can’t WAIT to get started with styling my shelves (God, that sounds so awful!), and making it feel like mine. I didn’t realise just how important a sense of space was to my sense of self, until this move!
My March To-Do List
I did pretty well on my February to-do list. I managed to try the vegan chicken bucket after visiting about five Tesco branches; we moved house; I got my nails done; I made plenty of progress on Pokémon, writing and pitching. March is going to be even better.
Get my nails done.- Record a podcast episode (I’m a guest!).
- Explore Oxford with my best friend for our belated birthday get-together!
- Read six books.
- Speak to an advisor at the bank about streamlining my accounts and finances.
Upload more posts on my home Instagram account, @daisybutterathome.- Move up a weight set across all exercises at the gym.
- Take Milo to the lake for our favourite walk.
- Hang out with my girl Winnie!
Visit IKEA for new bookcases.
