How to Plan the Perfect Galentine’s Day

Although our friendship group is now fully no longer single, we still prioritise spending some time together for Galentine’s Day. Celebrated on 13th February, Galentine’s Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the friendships in your life, something I believe is just as important as celebrating your significant other. While I believe in celebrating my loved ones every day, I’m also a sucker for a Hallmark holiday. What can I say?! I’m a Pisces. I really love love.

Our girls’ days together usually revolve around food and crafts – just the way we like it. But a Galentine’s Day celebration can look however you’d like it to! Perhaps it looks like a fun bottomless brunch or a spa day, perhaps it looks like a DIY girls’ day in hosted at somebody’s house.

Here are some cute Galentine’s Day ideas, tried-and-tested:

Galentine’s Day Cards and Letters

Perhaps it’s my writer tendencies, but I am a big fan of writing cards and letters. Often I’m terrible at birthday cards, but I really like ‘just because’ cards. Take a moment to pen each attendee a heartfelt note in a sweet card. These could make cute place cards, if you’re hosting dinner or a crafting session, like us.

Untitled Book Swap

For bookish friends, an untitled book swap is always fun! Simply select a book that you think anybody would enjoy – bonus points for those about friendships! – wrap it in brown paper, and pop it in a sack or bag. Each guest can then choose a book at random and it’ll become a lovely reminder of your Galentine’s Day together.

Candle-Making Workshop

I could be biased, as a co-founder of a handmade candle shop, but a candle-making workshop is so fun! Plenty of small businesses now offer candle-making kits and it means you can be hands-on, off-screen and create a little keepsake.

Decorate Love Heart Biscuits

I’m terrible at baking, but one of my best friends is incredible at it. So, teamwork makes the dream work! Pick up a bunch of dyes, make some icing and grab piping bags and nozzles. It’s time to decorate heart-shaped biscuits and cookies. I love this idea, because you can come up with all sorts of fun phrases to add atop your baked goods. Plus, they’re super Instagrammable.

DIY Fries Before Guys Food Containers

Finally, I couldn’t write this post without including a Cricut project! These DIY food containers are the perfect little addition to any grazing table. I spotted a ‘Fries Before Guys’ design on Pinterest and knew I had to recreate it. Simply cut from card, line with greaseproof paper and fill with home-baked chips. Because no party is complete without chips.

Are you hosting, or attending, a Galentine’s Day party this year? I can’t wait for ours!
