Open-hearted joys 開開心心 62
How on earth we’re already more than halfway through the month is completely beyond me. November is by far my favourite month and so I’ve happily filled it with all of my favourite things (and un-filled it too, with plenty of downtime). Try as I might, I’m still feeling a little ‘lost for words’ when it comes to writing and sharing online. I think I’m just in a quiet era, and that’s fine by me. But I’m sure it’s a little frustrating for any regular readers!
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer, details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite, open-hearted joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Sunny but crisp November walks ‘round the lake with Milo.
二. Feeling festive as we prep Black Friday and Christmas at work. It’s every bit as hectic as you’d imagine, but I’m really enjoying and admiring our team effort and approach to the challenge.
三. The building anticipation for our anniversary celebrations at the end of the month!
四. An evening of bookcase organisation after my 66 Book Club haul. I’m convinced that the satisfaction of a big reshuffle is what keeps me in chaos mode 95% of the time…
五. Both seeing and feeling the results of a nine month-long focus on the gym and eating habits.
六. Our acer maple tree, come to life in the garden. She’s a real beauty.
七. Working on – and launching – Christmas 2023 at & Chai. After a difficult year for our small business, we really hope you adore the collection and will support us. There’s a brand-new fragrance and some adorable new gift sets, too. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to run a Black Friday sale this year, due to rising supply costs, but we hope you’ll enjoy shopping with us nonetheless.
八. Attack on Titan!!
九. A refreshed desk space to work and write from.
十. Making festive plans with the girls and already feeling oh so Christmassy!
What are some little joys in your life lately?
