Petite joys

I’ll be honest: there doesn’t feel like a whole lot to be joyful for at the moment. I feel creatively blocked (but only with work, not with the blog), there are a few things going on behind the scenes, and the unfolding scenes in Hong Kong are nothing short of terrifying.

That being said, I’m over the moon that it’s Friday at last. And another opportunity to list out some moments that’ve brought me joy. And isn’t there so much?! It’s Dad’s birthday tomorrow and then we’re looking after Siobhan‘s pup whilst she’s away. A DREAM.

There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:

一. Getting to hang out with my best friend for three days! We ate out, ate in, shopped and gossiped to our hearts’ content.

二. Meeting baby Ciara. We drove up to Coventry last weekend for a big ol’ family gathering and it was truly great to see everyone and enjoy baby cuddles.

三. Morning light, flooding through my windows.

四. Restocking my Glossier stash and finally having Stretch Concealer, Milky Jelly Cleanser and Boy Brow back in my life.

五. My first bubble bath in positively WEEKS. It was honestly stuff sent from above.

六. Rainbows, shining proud and bright through the skies, after our many (many) rainstorms. The UK weather this August has been a total write-off. I mean, I’m waking up daily anxious af about the climate crisis…

七. I read How to Build A Heart by Maria Padian this week and LOVED it. I’m not a YA fan on the whole, but this was a brilliant read. I received an ARC, but it’s released in January 2020. A must-read.

八. Cosy cuddles with Milo. We must cuddle for at least an hour once I return from London. He’s the very best little boy a girl could ask for.

九. My new Grow & Glow community gals! I’ve felt for a long time that the old community aspect of blogging is what I missed most. I’m not a career blogger and I’m unsure if I ever will or want to be, but I absolutely adore pouring my heart and soul into this space. I have big ideas and Vix’s wonderful hub has been fundamental in helping me on my way.

十. The anticipation for Dad’s birthday tomorrow!!
